Jeans jeanie

Image
I'm a denim girl - love denim but especially combined with embroidery and my lovely jeans ripped! They are already ripped at the knees but they ripped at the waist and a bit extra at the knees and I have not completely worn them out yet - so I did a little repair! Some patches of similar coloured fabrics and threads just running stitch horizontally and vertically in not very straight lines and they are now extremely strong. This is a japanese technique derived from workers fixing their working clothes - and it definitely works for the ultimate in workwear - jeans! JoPx

Chop up your jewellery!

Apologies for the shadows on these photos ! I recently bought this necklace from Marks and Spencer and it goes lovely with my new coat and I wear a lot of navy. It is a necklace with 3 strands but there were no earrings to go with it. Sooooo I thought I would chop off one of the strands - I chose the longest one  and used some pliers with the wire cutting piece in the middle part of the pliers to cut the chain as close to the top of the clasp as possible. The long strand had a nice selection of beads in pairs. I used to make a lot of jeweller and still have some of my tools and findings so I dug into the cupboard to get them out and checked out the beads I had and decided that I had enough beads for a couple of pairs. Yea bonus! These are the two pairs I made and I had a bit of fun with the leftover beads and made a charm with those. I wanted both pairs of earrings to have the navy and the red hence this combo. However there were several different combos I could have t...

Repurpose Stuff

Remember this tag? Here is the original front   And the back.......... I kept the original tag on show around the border. Remove the piece of cord first. The Kraft card look goes really well with reds and green so I selected some of my Stampin' Up stash of new christmas paper called Santa's Workshop and cut a rectangle out to cover the back glued on with PVA glue. If you flip the tag over you can see where the hole is for the cord and can line up a hole punch and re punch the hole. Then work on what will be the front of the tag. I cut another rectangle for the front and repeated punching the hole again and then threaded back the cord. I utilised another piece of the Santas workshop paper to create the border piece at the bottom of the tag and cut out one of the flocked images of an elf and sign post on another of the papers and glued these to the front - I popped the elf up on a sticky foam pad.  Then I found a little baby pom pom in my craf...

DIY and Projects on the go

I love doing a bit of DIY and this weekend I am so proud of how my new curtains came out I decide to show them on my blog. I did make them and while there was some material left over made 6 matching seat pads. The dining room looks great. It has no pictures or cushions yet so I will enjoy sorting out some works of art over time to adorn the sofa bed and the walls! I am also working on a couple of other projects at the moment. Here are a couple of things lying on my craft desk. My knitted cardi is nearly finished - just fell in love with this wool from Nat King Cole. And I rescued this label from my boyfriend's new jeans. It looks to me like a label that needs a purpose - or repurposing!! Stay tuned as I am sure it will be posted on my blog when it is done! And just on the side is some black ribbon rescued from a dress I bought - it is the ribbon sewn under the armholes used by the shop to keep it on the hanger. Very lovely useful black ribbon! Enjoy the rest of your...
